OOC?

Alright so I decided to make a poll for this very controversial problem... should we have an OOC area or not? Here are some regions to consider:
Why We Shouldnt:
-when I did have an OOC, it was empty and just took up space -people may flock to it and chat rather than be in the IC and actually roleplay -it takes up space that can be used for den
Why We Should:
-less OOC chat in the IC areas that may disrupt roleplay -keeps the noobs in one area instead of infecting the whole dream map -Organizes the dream; divides a line between strict rp and ooc
-if you have any more reasons why we should or shouldnt have an ooc area please post a reply!

Well, why not make it sort of a "public" den, but as an ooc area instead?

Den 3 is public, and dens are in a way both OOC and IC

Ack. I saw how empty the OOC was before... But then again, the dream is growing. I think you should make a small area.. I emphasize "small" because I like the current IC size. ok. So I technically vote "yes" then

I can see a good point to having an ooc place for people to go to. It would lessen the ooc taking place in the ic areas...especially when people are trying to rp...and perhaps help to prevent arguements.
However I've seen a lot of dreams around where the OOC place is the only spot players will hang out and chat. When I come online, I come to rp and help out where I can. Soooo...I voted no on this. The dream is so nicely designed, i'm sure the regular players and guests can help keep ooc to a minimum. We just need to enforce the rules a bit better perhaps? And i'm sure if a pack wants to chat oocly, they can do so in their own dens...as long as other players aren't rping there. Thanks for reading!

I think that having an OOC in a dream such as this isn't necessary. This is a RPing dream and I've seen so many good RPing dreams become OOC chatter dreams because everyone is just sitting in the OOC doing nothing and won't RP even if you ask them. I realize that everyone, including myself, does post some OOC, I won't attempt to deny that. Though the thing is, there will ALWAYS be OOC in the IC, so it would seem pointless to make your lovely IC area smaller so that more people can hide away from RPs in some OOC area. Now then, for you point about keeping the n00bs outs of the IC, I know for a fact that is not what will happen. As a dream weaver, and former dream owner of my own dream I know from experience that the n00bs will still run amok through the dream, locking all the dens (which thankfully you don't have here), killing all the prey, and stealing all the carcasses and hay from all the dens. They will still run in and out of every single den endlessly, much to the annoyance of the RPers and they will still stand next to RPers and say Randomwolf: HI! There is no way to prevent that, because, well, they are curious and they don't quite know better so an OOC area is not a way to fix that. So because of this I firmly feel that you should not waste precious dream space on an OOC area. I do not feel that it is needed and I believe it will only take away from the dream.

I think a very very very small OOC might be ok IMO. Like... an 8x8 space room xD then we can be jerks and make it so that if the OOC gets too full and there's no more room you can teled back to the dream entrance with an emit reading "LOLZ OOC BOT SAYZ NONE SHALL PASS - GO RP NOOB"
Or something equally amusing :3

Why thank you Prime. (And I just lost The Game because of you D:)
Now for Cetan's point, I would like to ask one question first; Is there a blank 8x8 space in the map that is not being used by the IC? While having a small OOC is not that bad an idea, though it still won't solve all the OOC vs IC problems and may create some more, I would rather not see some of the IC be eaten away by an OOC area. While the tele idea might work, I know that I like to AFK randomly for a bit when in OOC only areas, so to be teleported back to the start of the dream could lead to the build up of a lot of AFKers. Now I remember reading in the rules that Narkili wanted the entrance of the dream to not be crowded by a lot of people who would like to be OOC, so this may also not work. While a small OOC area does prevent too many people from hiding from RPs, it will also keep people looking to AFK in the OOC out of the IC area from doing so. So I feel that if the dream absolutely must have an OOC it should at least be one of reasonable size to fit the the people within it easily and not randomly kick people out into the dream. Sorry if that seems like I am trying to just bash your idea Cetan, that is in no way my intention. I just felt I should try to argue my point further and point out some flaws.

Lol my idea was more or less a joke. I was just being funny at the mention of too many people going to the OOC and everyone worrying about dream space.
In all seriousness though, the dream IC area wouldn't be minimized. Just a month or two ago, the dream had an OOC area, it was only removed because it didn't get used. So if it was added again, it wouldn't be overused. Myself and a few others used it when there was a RP going on and we just wanted to chat or hang somewhere else. It worked perfectly fine, so overuse isn't really a valid argument. As for size, I just brought my char down to the bottom of the map where the OOC used to be. The area is now a small body of water with an island. And there wasn't a soul to be found. So I really don't think that the dream would suffer if it was readded.

Alright then. If it isn't going to take away from the main part of the dream too much I don't think I would mind it as much. Though I am still a bit wary of having an OOC lead to everyone just sitting around there rather than RPing both from my own experience as a previous feral dream owner along with my knowledge gained form years of traveling and RPing in various feral wolf dreams. While I really won't mind having an OOC, I feel it is unnecessary and could lead to some problems.
I think I've expressed all my views on this...at least twice xD So unless I can magically come up with another point, or someone says something to swing my vote, I think I've said enough.

How about a trial period for the OOC area? We could give it a trial...say for two weeks or so...and see how it fits in. If it works out like we're all hoping it will...keeps the ooc in one spot...then we can keep it. However, if we find that most everyone is hanging out there all the time and not rping...we can just take it away. I'm for either way...if there is one, great, if not, great!

If the OOC becomes the main hang out, we can always take it out. Very simple to remove something like that, only a few minutes of editing, if that. Like I said though, I think it will have limited use like it did last time. People only went there when they just didn't feeling like chatting in the IC area/there was a RP going on. Myself and a few friends did this only a few times. Most of the time was spent IC, or in the den with only light chatting. But yeah xD

So long as people don't flock to the OOC, and even if they do, there's at the very least a safety net for the dream so it does not become another OOC hang out. So I would say to go ahead and give this plan a try, no matter the results I think it is a very nice compromise.
