I recently took part in a fight on an alt but I suggested instead of the three dodge rule we used dice, and I must say it is much more exciting than any other fight I have ever taken part in. The posts are not required to be paragraph upon paragraph and the rules are simple; We used 2 dice with 15 sides so the command was, roll 2d15 if you roll one dice we found out the number is often to high so your always hitting your opponent. If you roll a 30 then it's a kill shot, so even if your opponent is winning yet you roll a 30 the tables are turned, however if your opponent rolls 25 or more then they take a bit of damage but it isn't a kill shot anymore. This applies even if they roll an 18 and you rolled a 14, there is only 4 difference so you don't take the full damage of the attack but if it was 6+ difference you couldn't dodge it And you would have to take the hit, but you could then roll again to see if you can break free from the attack.
I think i've listed everything but it would be easier to describe during the game, but roleplaying fights with dice is much more exciting and makes you anxious and hope for a higher roll than your opponent.

Huh, I think it's a great idea! And more simple than the 3 dodge rule.

3:1 dodge = simpler, easier to remember. Invented for stupid people. It should be the RPers' choice what they use, not a mandatory thing.

I agree with Guest. People are still able to access the healthbar, but if they wish to use dice for their fights they can. Some people prefer to use neither, sticking solely to the 3:1 rule.
But from the way I see it from the OP's post, using the dice instead of 'paragraphs of rp' is taking away from the main point of the entire situation... the roleplay itself. This is an IC dream, where people are expected to be In Character at all times. Not Dungeons and Dragons.

Sincerely, I cannot see anymore the healt bar. Plus, I think it would be nice, as some people don't understand the 3 dodge rule and keep dodging for the entire fight. The 3 dogde rule is great, but this method wolf be more comfortable for some players that can have some more fun, or that are new to RP fights. And I think that a RP post can be done from the result of the dice. It wouldn't delete the RP, I think.

While I'm here waiting to receive credit for my RPing rules...
The problem with the dice is that it ruins the realism. The 3:1 dodge rule is a guideline really. It's meant to prevent people from dodging ALL attacks that come their way. It is not however required that players dodge any attacks at all. The dice idea takes away from actual RP because it takes away from the realism. Yes, some part of RPing is chance, but a lot of it is realism and physics.
If Craige the saber bites Vladimir Putin the wolfs's back(an attempt to do damage to Vlad's spine) and Craige happens to roll a 30, that would mean that Vladimir's spine instantly breaks and he is dead/paralyzed/doomed/completely and utterly screwed.
However, this is a common example use to tell new RPers what NOT to do in a RP fight. An attack on another players spine is known as a process attack, and CANNOT be executed in one single move. First the saber would have to get a good grip, then hang on as Vlad the wolf struggles to get free. Meanwhile Craige the very angry saber with a stick in his ass must continue to slowly sink his teeth into Vlad's back until finally hitting the spine. He may have to spend a lot of time simply removing flesh and muscle from Vlad's back before being able to reach the spine. Or Vlad could escape.
These are all things that must be taken into consideration, and cannot be disregarded just because someone rolled a 30.

Yeah, if it was a rule that people had to use dice then RP here would be a disaster. I personally hate using dice, it's annoying and sort of hard to get used to. But yeah, people have the choice of what to do. And replying to Jidana's post, if they don't understand the three dodge rule you could simply teach them how. It isn't hard to understand, but the health bar does help alot
