Hm, so I have a little question.
It says that Flying creatures aren't allowed and Angelic creatures aren't either. Since my character has feathery wings, I'm not sure if it would be linked to those two categories. (the flying part will be altered though.. depending on the answer to my question)
So what I was wondering is: Are wings still allowed, providing that they can't make the character fly? Like.. They're just some accessory for show only?

Wings are still permitted; however, they can not be used for flying, must be penetrable (you can not have wings that are impenetrable) and can not be used excessively during battles. You can use them for a dodge but it can not be done in excess. They can also not be used for excessive attacks - you can't extend your 5 foot wings and constantly beat people on the head, etc.

I realize this is rather long and hard to swallow, but I wanted it to be perfectly clear what I'm talking about. Please look it over carefully. I will gladly answer any questions you may have. Once everyone agrees, I will formally apply this character. This is only a test to see if I should even try. :c ----- 1. Type of special creature: Kopahn. The Kopahn is an original species that I have created. I am in the process of establishing a ref for the entire species and subspecies. It’s three pages in my sketchbook. I will include this in a link as part of the formal application, so there aren’t any problems. I want there to be as little confusion as possible. :>
2. Describe the physical appearance: Kinshe is colorful and very easy to recognize. His fur is mostly a vibrant yellow, with a cream underbelly. He has red stripes and elaborate markings that cover most of his body, except for his paws, which are orange. His mane and tail are a deep red, but his horns are lighter in color. The wings are black, but the membrane is a gradient of sunset colors, moving from red to cream. He has a few little black spikes along the base of his back and tail. His colors represent his sunny personality. Here is the ref for him, though some of the information is null and void in order to have a chance at being approved. twisted-emotions.deviantart.com/art/Kinshe-Character-Ref-Sheet-62892356
3. History: Kinshe was born this way, as a normal and perfectly healthy Kopahn male. However, his biological parents abandoned him when he was almost one year old, for reasons unknown. There is reason to believe that they are deceased, possibly hunted by two-leggeds, though there isn’t physical proof. Young Kinshe had no siblings or other relatives to turn to for comfort, since the species are quite rare. However, he managed to keep himself alive by eating whatever he could, including insects, mice, and other small prey, with the help of the occasional good advice from a friendly face wherever his feet took him. He is largely considered an outcast because of his appearance, though he is fond of any sort of companionship he can find while on his travels.
4. Describe the strengths and weaknesses: (I posted these in the biggest threat>smallest threat order. Please critique, but don’t be too harsh. I also left some ooc notes after some of them.) Firebreath – Mild red flames blast from the mouth and can be used as an attack or as a defense. He very, very rarely uses this ability unless his life is in extreme peril, such as the killing blow. On special occasions outside of battle, he may use it to show off in front of the ladies. (The only time I have ever used this ability in roleplay was in a battle against a dragon in TDE years ago, in order to save his life. He was literally in the dragons mouth, about to be swallowed… Just to give you perspective. Also, I don’t believe this falls under ‘element control’ since he cannot control fire itself, but please correct me if I’m mistaken and I will remove this accordingly.) Weakness: The source of the flame is found inside of the body, very close to the heart itself. If used too much, his body becomes very slow, cold, and weak, resulting in slow reactions, illness, or a quick death by another’s attack during battle. This ability doesn’t work against wet or snow-covered objects, and can only be used once in battle, when he has absolutely no other options left before he is killed. If he is ill, then this ability isn’t available at all. It is also weak after he drinks water, just after a meal, and when he is sleepy/sluggish.
Dragon Blood - The very blood that flows within him enables him longevity and is quite hot, keeping him warm even in frigid climates such as AWW and worse. It enables him to withstand frigid temperatures without having to go inside a den. If an enemy were to wound him, it should be noted that his blood may cause mild burns on the skin, depending on where they attack. If they attack his chest or neck, it would be a much hotter temperature than say, at the tail or his legs, due to the fact that it’s farther away from the heart. (I have a drawing that illustrates this better. I’ll scan it as soon as possible so that you can see what I mean. Also keep in mind, it's not acidic, just hot.) Weakness: His blood cannot soak through fur before quickly losing its excessive heat. It cools fast once outside of his body, but areas such as the lips, the thinner furred areas of the abdomen, the face, and paws of his opponent are vulnerable. (It’s just like spilling coffee; It hurts, but you won’t die from it. You might get a mild to moderate burn in these areas, but nothing severe.) Also! His blood turns a vibrant blue when exposed to the air, which also makes it dreadfully easy to track him when he’s wounded.
Retractable Claws - Catlike talons that stay extra sharp like the feline family, able to slice through many surfaces without much problem. They are excellent for hunting or fighting purposes, making it easier for him to grab his prey and hold it down. Weakness: These claws are sharp, but they can only be used at a close range. They also cannot slice through thick fur, such as the neck, tail, or underbelly. They would be useless against thicker hides, such as dragon scales or bone. He can only use this attack when facing toward or slightly diagonal to his opponent.
Eyes - Kinshe's eyes are able to see in color. This enables him to find his prey much easier, especially if they are of a strange hue. Weakness: He cannot see very well in the dark, and is very vulnerable to attacks made in shadowy places such as caves, dens, and thick forested areas. It takes about thirty minutes or so for his eyes to adjust to the darkness, and even then, he can only distinguish silhouettes. Because of this, he is often more alert at night.
Dragon Wings – He has a pair of large, leathery wings that rest on his shoulders. They can be a very effective defense if used correctly. (I had to disable his flight ability to fit the requirements.) Weakness: His wings are brittle and very easy to break under pressure. The membrane can tear easily, especially at the ends. They can sometimes get in the way when traveling in areas with low branches, or thickly forested areas.
Lion Tuft - A large gathering of hair at the end of his long tail, used as a distraction during battle, because of its red color. Weakness: Though it makes for an excellent distraction, it can slow down his running time. Attackers may also target this and leave Kinshe vulnerable until he is able to turn around and attack, unless they tear it off before then. Without his tail, he would lose his sense of balance and be quite vulnerable.
Dragon Spikes - A small gathering of short black spikes along the spine at the base of his tail, used for defense more than attack. (There are only five spikes that are of any threat. Seven, if you are looking at the ref I’ve provided, though the number varies with every drawing I do. Because of this small number, I didn’t believe this was against the ‘super-spiked’ part of the requirement, but please correct me if I’m wrong.) Weakness: Though it is a good defense for the base of his tail, it still leaves the rest of his tail vulnerable, as well as his entire spinal column, all the way up to his mane. They aren’t very effective as a weapon, since they are so close to the base of his tail. They would only inflict damage if the opponent somehow bit into them or fell on them.
Lion Mane - His thick lionlike mane makes it very hard to reach the jugular without being thrown off first, used for protection against attacks toward his throat, neck and his underside. It also keeps him very warm during the winter. Weakness: Though his mane provides some protection against attacks, it does not cover his entire body, leaving his legs, wings, face and tail vulnerable. It also slows him down while running and it nearly completely disables his ability to swim when necessary. Also, because of its thickness, he is prone to overheating during the summer if he does not move to a cooler climate that’s below 50F.
Goat Ears – The goatlike ears on his head can turn independently, meaning one can be pointing forward while the other can be pointing back. They are used for hunting and for a keen sense of hearing, though they aren’t necessarily ‘better’ than normal wild animal ears. Weakness: They are rather large compared to his head, so they are easy to grab a hold of and tear away. They are rather sensitive, so any loud noises startle him. Very loud sounds can even leave him a little deaf for a minute or two afterward.
Goat Horns – These decent sized horns can be used for dealing damage to his opponent, much like a goat would, though his body isn’t built for any serious ramming power. They protect his skull and the top of his neck. Weakness: The horns are made of cartilage, and can be broken if hit with enough force. If he ran into a boulder, for example, they would likely crack and be quite painful. Though they would grow back, it would take a long time to do so. Plus, if anyone were to grab a hold of his horns, they would have a lot of control of which direction Kinshe would go, much like a horse with reigns.
Other weaknesses: Kinshe is absolutely TERRIFIED of water. If anyone so much as spits toward him, he freaks out and tries to get as far away as possible. He’s afraid of drowning, because he can’t swim very well, so he’s scared of any body of water that could possibly drown him, including little puddles left over from the rain. He gets his water intake from the morning dew, or from the snow that’s available in the winter. If neither of these things are available, he must find his water elsewhere, either by eating juicy bugs or lush vegetation. He will resort to the river if he has to.
5. Measurements. Height: 2’5 at the shoulder. Weight: 125lbs. Canine Length: 1.5in. Incisor Length: .5in. Claw Length: 1in.
6. RP Post. Kinshe’s ears pricked suddenly at the sound, each of them moving to and fro as he tried to pinpoint the source of the rustling, the fur rising slightly along his dorsal side with anticipation. Was he being watched?... The hybrid’s eyes narrowed, tail flicking with irritation as he peered around, nose twitching in the scents of the area to see if he could find anything amiss on the air. Nothing. Why, then, did he have the sudden and dreadful feeling that someone was watching him from the shadows? The Kopahn moved a little forward, though a little more cautiously, the usual cocky prance to his step quelled if only for a few minutes. Then suddenly, he heard the rustling again! He stopped in his tracks, his head snapping around to his hindquarters to see who was there, still not a soul to be seen. “Who’s there? Come on out.” The hybrid waited, always watching to see who would come out of the brush and brambles, though still nothing stirred. He hesitated, speaking again, this time with more friendliness in his voice. “I won’t hurt you. Why are you following me?” Kinshe was certain that there was someone there, or else the wind was playing some cruel trick on him. It wasn’t long before he finally heard the shuffling sound once more, this time he was able to pinpoint the exact bust from whence it came, focusing on a small batch of bushes just behind him. Staring, his jaw lowered slightly as he realized what it was, though he grinned politely shortly afterward. It was only a pup, trembling just to look at him, though it was obvious that the poor thing needed something. To think he had been so wary over such a tiny creature, probably so very far away from home. “Hello there, are you lost? Need some help?” The hybrid sat down on his hindquarters, folding his wings so he didn’t seem so very intimidating, as most people usually thought he was when they first looked at him. He didn’t want to scare the little fella away, now did he? No, it wouldn’t be like him to pass up an opportunity to show his good qualities, even if it was only to a pup. “Don’t worry, I won’t hurt you.”

In regard to the species, in order to have a clear understanding since this is a unique creation, I will need to see references when possible; the current is for a chimera which would fall under "mythical creatures" and is not permitted.
I am not fond of the fire breath aspect and I consider it a form of element control in that he would be manipulating it to his advantage. Whether or not it is used often is, of course, at the discretion of the individual player, but in order to be fair there has to be a universal standard for all players, which is why we've banned elemental uses.
I find the dragon blood to be creative; I think it has a good purpose when used to aid him in cold climates as well as the color it turns when exposed; however, I am against it burning other creatures were they to come in contact with it.
The claws I am fine with, as I am with the eyes, goat ears, and lion tuft on the tail.
I have mixed feelings with the dragon wings mostly because they coincide with other characteristics that make Kinshe seem like an armored creature - the wings, horns, spikes; almost all of his body is protected in one way or another and if not most, definitely the most 'prized' of areas. Wings are permitted so long as flight is not an option and so long as they are not used excessively for offense or defense. The fact that you state his are easily breakable under pressure does make me more inclined to accept them; however, as I said, I feel they are part of a larger frame that I am not fond of and that is of an armored creature. The dragon spikes, goat horns, and lion mane would also be considered, by me, to fall on this list of armors. I am not fond of them and also do not view the weaknesses to be sufficient enough to counteract the advantages.
Overall, the design is creative, but in my opinion has too many advantages in both characteristics, defense, and offense without a balance of weaknesses. There is also the potential to consider it an armored, mythical and elemental creature, which is prohibited. I think with some tweaking it may work, but as is ... I would consider it too much of an extreme character.

Alright, I understand. Narkili suggested that I posted this app here for this reason, and I appreciate your feedback. I'm not fond of editing him too extremely, since he is my character. Some of the edits you are asking for might take away from my enjoyment in playing him. His mane, for example, is his (and my) pride and joy, as well as a defining feature for the males of the species. However, it would be possible for me to create a female of the species, which would have a higher liklihood of being accepted, since they lack the manes and several of the things you have mentioned. The only problem I think I would again run into is the 'chimera' aspect. Again, these are Kopahn, not necessarily chimeras in the usual sense that's used with the term. Narkili had mentioned that since it is an original species, it may or may not be accepted. I realize this decision is entirely up to staff, but I urge you to think of them as my creation, not the mythical creature with the lion and goat heads with a venomous snake for a tail. As promised, here is more information on the species, straight from my sketchbook. twisted-emotions.deviantart.com/art/Kopahn-Info-150036823 The link also links you to the other two pages that go with it, just read my deviation description for more information. I plan on making a full colored ref for the Kopahn species, but here you can read exactly what ideas I have in mind for them as a whole. Eventually, I plan on letting other people create their own Kopahn, but since it's still in the making... What are your opinions on them? Of course I plan on making an entirely new character from scratch in order to try and meet the AWW requirements, but your feedback is greatly appreciated. Again, thank you for your honest feedback. I look forward to making a new Kopahn very soon, if not later today. If you wish to contact me, please whisper twisted-emotions, or Neroofwolves at any point during the day, or send me an IM, or reply to this. I'm usually online 8:00-5:00pm EST, and I like to keep an eye on the forums when I can.

Okay. I've been DYING to RP Timer here, but I've been worried about her not being accepted. So.. I'm going to post her info her for some suggestions and feedback. She's an unrealistic hybrid and part mythical.. why I fear she won't be accepted. 1. Type of special creature.Canine x Gryffe hybrid 2. Describe the physical appearance.White furred with Grey-blue markings. Heart shaped marking on chest. Gryffe or Bird like forelegs. Feathered ears and feathers strewn in neck fur. 3. History. How did your character become this way?She was simply born this way. Mother was a canine, father was a gryffe. History? She doesn't remember anything but waking up with a bump on her head. She was navigating a small group of rocks when she fell and was knocked unconscious. She woke to find a solid gold pocket watch beside her, and believes it to be her heart. She never lets it out of her sight. If it ever stops ticking, she believes she'll die. 4. Describe the strengths and weaknesses.Strengths: Bird-like claws and greater use of her forelegs similar to those of hands. She's got a greater grip and climbing ability. Weaknesses: She still has to walk on 4 legs. This means that whatever she could do with her 'hands' can only be done while laying down or standing still. She has a poor sense of smell, unable to catch the scent of anything that isn't pressed right up against her nose. Even then it's unlikely. That, along with all normal wolf weaknesses. 5. Measurements.Height: 4ft Length: 6ft Nose to Butt. Weight: 110 lbs Canine Length: 1.5 inches 'Talon' Length: 3 Inches 6. RP Post. Post a roleplay that you have made with this character. It must me a MINIMUM of six sentences. FFF I have to go. Have to do the RP post later. Besides, it's more the character that needs help being accepted. NOTE: If your character application has been denied, we will delete your post after you have replied to it or a week after posting- just to keep this board clean ^^

Quick question. I had my application for my alt Flak accepted by Narkili a while ago, but the application itself has disappeared. Is there a reason for this? Should I repost the App and try again when I've already been accepted?

It was restarted. Everyone who was previously a special must reapply and wait to get accepted. Since the rules have changed depending on your person it may or may not get accepted again.

Post by Apisi on Jan 27, 2010 20:13:08 GMT -5
-I'm wondering if this would be okay...could someone give me some feedback on it?- 1. Type of special creature; Lupus autumnalis (Parrot wolf) Also known as: Senmurv2. Describe the physical appearance; This image is not fully accurate, but I found the picture represented it well and the name was nice. Note: WINGS ARE NOT USED FOR FLYING, but for dodging when needed.(The thylin wolf avatar will probably be needed to show that he stands on two legs owing to the fact his arms are actually wings. If there's a problem with this, tell me and I'll use a different avatar. ) Apisi's colors reflect mostly the parrot part of him; a mixture of bright reds, yellows, and oranges intertwined with blue and green, with his eyes being the orange of embers. He stands upon two legs because of the simple fact he possesses wings instead of forepaws, and they're pretty delicate and not suitable to walk upon, but he will if he has to. 3. History; Apisi's species was more a result of a mutation then anything else; parrot x wolf created this beast. Parrot DNA was injected scientifically inside of an unborn 'egg' of a wolf, resulting in Apisi. Afterward, he was released into a holding pen built on the fringes of the lab he was created in, and Apisi proved to be a creature possibly tougher than a wolf, even with his amazing speed but little stamina. Also, he possesses great strength but only in small bursts. After being held for a while, Apisi broke free of his captors and began his life in the wild.
Api really wasn't allowed into any pack - the wolves were too wary of him to let that happen. So he wandered for a while before he came upon AWW, where he's pretty much lived ever since.4. Describe the strengths and weaknesses; 1. Api is extremely fast and also quite strong; however, he's only good at this in very short bursts. Afterward, he must conserve energy for about twenty minutes before he's able to use his exceptional speed/strength again. Otherwise, his speed and strength are equal to that of an ordinary wolf's.
2. Api's wings allow for protection against his body, although they cannot be used for flight. Unluckily, however, they also hamper his movement when he walks -not runs- and this can get in the way when he's fighting. Also, they can sometimes get under his paws and, as such, trip him.
3. Api has extremely long, sharp fangs and claws. The problem with this? They're more brittle and break a little easily - especially under the pressure of other wolves' fangs. Still, when broken off, it leaves ragged stumps for claws that can be more jagged/sharper than the originals.5. Measurements. Please post measurements for your wolf; Height: 5 ft 3 in (in accordance to the fact he stands on his hind legs.) Weight: 197 lbs Claw Length: 3.7 in Fang Length (canine): 4.1 in Fang Length (incisor): 1.6 in6. RP Post. Post a roleplay that you have made with this character. It must me a MINIMUM of six sentences. -If this is okay, I'll post the RP sample in the actual application.-

I have a question, what about roleplaying prehistoric animals?
I was thinking of rolepaying an Anderewsarchus, which is a sort of a canine, though it's more related to modern sheep and it's about the size of a horse. I would be just curious if it would belong under a 'Special' character, it would make sense to me since we do have Smilodons located in the dream.

Would a Siberian Husky (or any type of domestic dog) be allowed within the dream or would a special character form need to be filled out?
What about accessories? Are they allowed? Or is that another special character form that needs filling out? Just curious!

domestic dogs are allowed if they look like the avatar (like huskies, german shepherds, malamutes etc would work, and if you say !stray or !straypup those are dog avatars aswell that look something like a hound). If they are dogs with special powers, mutations, etc they would need a special application. Accessories are allowed without a special application if they do not "enhance" your characters ability.
